Our first year growing Ginger was not successful. I wish we found your videos earlier, looking forward to trying again. We are in zone 6a, what consistent temperature outside is safe to plant or take potted ginger outside? Is this the same process for Tumeric? Thank you for your outstanding videos!

If you want them to bud out faster you can try adding just a small amount of sugar to the water, I don’t measure the amount but just a little bit from my sugar container say 1 1/2 tablespoon per 2quarts of warm water.

I start the seeds about 10 weeks early, they are much bigger and stronger plant when it's time to plant in the spring, by June they have nice weather to fully produce before the crazy heat arrive in July, also bury some compost in the garden bed & trim some crowded leaves if needed to give better airflow.

This is the first year in 10 that I have had trouble getting peas t sprout. Sow bugs problem as they break through soil so I have used diatamaceous earth which deters the sow bugs until they get stronger. But this year they are gone before sprouting. I will be saving egg cartons for the future for sure. Thanks for this excellent idea. No problem with such a small bottom hole?

    • @Footprintsinthegarden

No problem with the small hole, the roots just grow right through the cartons. Hope this trick work for you!

Very thorough video! One question though: Do you plant directly outdoors from this seedling flat or do you re pot into larger pots for the next step?
